Safety First

7. If the LED light bar has a wiring harness and includes a relay, use it. If there is no wiring harness and your light bar draws more than 5A, use a relay. Use a switch with minimum 10A rating when directly switching your light bar. Ensure that the power capacity of the relay exceeds the amperage on your light bar’s maximum current draw.

8. Keep wire lengths short and route the wires along the firewalls of the vehicle’s chassis and away from heat sources. Avoid splicing wires. For a rooftop LED light bar, run the wires through the frame channel of the windshield.

9. Using separate wire colors for different circuits will make them more easily identifiable. For example red from battery to relay, yellow from relay to switch, black for ground wires, etc.
